Animation for teaching mathematics

The first in the row of animations intended to aid teaching mathematics is a program related to András Ringler's article entitled 'Let's think Greek!' (published in Teaching Matematics, Mozaik, Szeged, Hungary, vol. 2003/5, pp.3-8). The program demonstrates the surprising geometrical solutions of quadratic equations.

By creating this collection of animations for teaching matematics, we would like to provide an opportunity for teachers to publish their similar work. Our purpose is to enable teachers to learn about each other's work, and make it available for interested students. The aim of this initiative is to facilitate the hard work of teachers of mathematics. We hope that this collection will help to promote the development of mathematical thinking.

András Ringler

András Ringler graduated as a high school teacher in mathematics and physics in 1969, at the József Attila University of Szeged. He received his PhD in physics in 1972, and his PhD in biology in 1994. In 2000 he became a habilitated doctor of biology at the Semmelweis University of Budapest. His main field of research was the fluorescence of biological samples. Between 2005 and 2010, he was Head of Department at the Department of Medical Physics and Biophysics. Besides teaching, he also wrote and edited numerous university textbooks and directed over 100 educational films.
